The elite condom distribution campaign was launched in August 2020 by Elite youth of Uganda and it’s partners Mbale network of young people living with HIV/AIDs and Uganda youth and adolescents health forum.
The campaign is intended to distribute male and female condoms so as to bring them closer to women and men who are finding it hard to purchase then in shops and pharmacies. This was geared to prevent and check on the spread of HIV/AIDs and prevention of Early and un wanted pregnancies among adolescent girls and boys and mothers who are not ready to have children as a family planning strategy.
Elite youth of Uganda and it’s partners rolled out to community outreaches like Namatala, Namakwekwe and Mission cell in Mbale City teaching people on how to use female and male condoms and disapproving the myths surrounding condom use that many men give as an excuse not to use condoms.
During the outreach we also provided services like family planning, GBV screening, HIV Testing and Counseling, condom distribution, and general counseling. Over 700 female condoms were distributed, 1000 male condoms were also distributed and 40 men took HIV services respectively, 30 girls and women were screened for Gender-Based Violence.
